Naa ...... Opel has a large user base in Europe, it would be crazy if nobody would pick up this brand at all. One Canadian component supplier Magna is also bidding for Opel as well. I would put my money down that German Government will accept either one of these two offers, what other choice does it have? Currently Magna might have a slight upper hand, since it has zero overlapping with Opel, hence the initial laid off would be much less as compare to a Fiat deal. I think Fiat is trying to swallow too big of a pie in this round, the taking over of Chrysler would stretch the management to maximum point, taking on Opel will add a lot more financial burden as well, no doubt synergy potential is enormous, but still eating up so many thing in such a short time space is a risky moment. Chance of a life time I suppose for the company to shoot itself to Global No. 2 position? |
