Team Principal Ross Brawn on Friday escaped with a £700 fine and six points on his licence after admitting to speeding at more than 100mph in late May this year.

Brawn did not appear in the Plymouth Magistrates Court to answer the charge of driving 30mph in excess of the speed limit at the wheel of his Mercedes.

His lawyer said the 54-year-old Briton, who could have lost his license for the offence, had been late for an appointment due to being stuck earlier in heavy traffic.

"The traffic (on the A30) was light," Brawn's lawyer told the court, according to local British media reports.
