過去一年, 原來行左40000km, 有用$1/km的MR2, MX5, 又有用$1.4/km的Coupe同Fairlady
用左$48000油錢
現在重新安排車隊, 究竟有咩可以揀呢?
買架新Abarth punto 1.4T $1/km 再慳牌費同維修, 係唔係solution呢?

Coupe 牌費 $6000 Insurance $2000 reserve maintenance cost $20000/year
Fairlady 牌費 $8000 Insurance $3800 reserve maintenance cost $20000/year
Budget 一年running cost $107,800

若然, 單飛一架可靠而有型的車五年, Max可以去到幾多Budget呢?
兩架車5年Maintenance cost $40000 x 5 = $200,000
兩架車5年用量 200000km 用油 $240,000
兩架車5年insurance $29000
兩架車5年牌費 $70000
resell Fairlady at this moment at $45000
Total 5 年motoring expense budget =$584,000

如果買一架1.4T的車,
牌費5年$20000
40000km/year用量, 第二年已過warranty($4000 factory inspection)內的mileage limit, 一年換要8次油 $1200 each, 一套呔$5000 加第三四五年$30000維修
5年維修保養共$78600, 預$130000
全保 $3500 each year, 5年$17500
行200,000km, 每km $1.1 已用 $220000油錢
合共$387,500

如果與用兩車情況相比, 可以慳 $197000, 即係可以作為買新車Budget之用.
呢個價位, 廿皮可買到咩低年份,1500cc以下, $1.1/km, 有型又有款的車呢?

二手Abarth 500我來也....

I think he meant keep the coupe plus a sporty but efficient modern low maintenance car like Abarth 500 / Punto evo turbo / VW 1.4GT etc.

唔想唔要墓碑, 即係要plan 2
Coupe
牌費$6000
insurance $2000
一年maintenance cost $20000
每年行20000km, 油耗= $28000
每年running cost $56000
咁, 又back to square 1.

即係要搵架油耗低過Fairlady, 新過佢, budget維修可以平過佢, 牌費平過佢.

If you plan use use 墓碑 as your weekend car only, 一年maintenance cost should be much less than $20000, probably just $12000 would be fine.

No laa, MX-5 can not do high speed with good fuel economy, 100km/hr = 3000rpm. For Simon to achieve $1/km, he needed to drive 80km/hr on the super highway!

Toyota Comfort la.
Chairman, your need a small displacement with good fuel
efficiency/maintaince free foot car + 1 war horse.
For car over 20years, seem does not depreciate, only spend
for maintainence + modification. You can just use the test car
insurance and purchase lic fee for a quarter. So running cost
is not really high.

03車要11萬, 00車要68000, 相差4萬, 而油耗相差10%.
如果要慳4萬油錢, 要行足400000km!!!

另外
03車3年後會賣$68000, 估佢要$15000去整, 無左$57000
00車3年後會賣$30000, 仲用$25000去整, 唔見左$63000

似乎, 唔應該追求六叔.

1st to 5th gear for both 5 spd (9.26L/100km) & 6 spd (8.62L/100km) models are almost identical. 6th gear is for OD and fuel economy only. So both models are the same in terms of performance and 6 spd model has better fuel economy. Also 6 spd will be heavier.

Can the $50k to $60k difference (if this is the case) can justify the fuel economy (0.64L/100km or 2mpg)?

5速and6速都係 extra-urban 5.9L/100km combined 7.4L/100km

Simon does 150km on a daily basis, assuming 90% of the daily trip is highway using top gear.

5sp final gearing ratio = 3.53
6sp final gearing ratio = 3.13

6sp has approx. 11.3% taller gearing than 5sp, and assuming 5sp is returning $1 per km, and further take a wild guess that the mechanical losses + extra gear weight of the 6sp gear box results in 1.3% losses, hence the net fuel saving is approx. 10%.

150km x 90% x $1 x 10% = $13.5 per day

Assuming 5 days a week, 52 weeks per year.
$13.5 x 5 x 52 = $3,510 p.a.

Assuming 3 yrs ownership
Fuel Saving = $10.5K over 3 yrs.

Further assuming a 6sp will have a $10K residual value over the 5sp model (of similar age), therefore you can consider a 6sp model with $20.5k premium over the 5sp model (base on fuel efficiency + residual value)

I am just trying to place a quantifiable pricing differential towards the pricing between 5sp vs 6 sp on a guesstimate manner.

However on the emotional side, Simon has yet to own a 6sp car, so the head might point to 5sp, the heart will undoubtedly point to 6sp (regardless of the price differential).

用左好多過往數據, 計算出
一年行40000km,
就算買架腳車,油耗只是$1/km, 同架coupe $1.5/km一齊用,
慳左的油錢係用左黎買牌費同整車換油保養洗左去.
所以, 多一架車只係有一架spare車的方便, 慳唔到D咩.
而家要嘅係好好咁去行慳油模式.
