Apparently, Mercedes-Benz will dismiss its luxury brand Maybach in 2013. According to Autocar.co.uk - which quotes internal sources - the German group has come to this decision after a long deliberation over the future of the brand, which was brought back to life in 2002 following an almost 60-years long hiatus. Maybach’s ‘57′ and ‘62′ saloon models, based on the quite obsloete S-Class W220, have now reached the end of their commercial lives, and would need more than a simple re-styling to become competitive on the modern market again. In light of the poor response of the public toward the revamped brand, Mercedes-Benz just doesn’t seem interested in doing that. |
