F1 setup for Singapore Grand Prix
McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh
"We came here with pretty soft settings - expecting that to be best suited to the street-circuit characteristics - but actually, the corrugations were such that it turned out you needed a really stiff front end to keep the car level."
Counter-intuitively, stiff worked better with the bumps, there being more benefit in keeping the car's aerodynamic platform level than lost from working the tyres harder.
Button has a soft setup initially in the qualifying, and never quite manage to get the setup right until race day.
