In fact, it is almost the same for Pb acid battery, because battery usually have 2000 cycle of life and each cycle counts when charge reaching 100% capacity.
So, to extend the life, charge between 20%-80% will extend the cycle time more than 20%. that justify the reduced working time.

yes, that is true for both Ni-MH 90% and Lithium 80% battery!
