波子改裝專家Gemballa唔見左

Famed Porsche tuner Uwe Gemballa has gone missing in South Africa.

The Gemballa tuning house is best known for tuning some of the most extreme Porsches available, including the 740bhp Porsche Panamera pictures.

According to reports, Gemballa, 51, was on a trip to South Africa when he went missing. The search for him is currently focusing on Johannesburg.

Investigators in Germany are reportedly in contact with law enforcement authorities in South Africa in an effort to aid the search.

好似有野變緊天.
Update: Gemballa has applied for Insolvency at the Ludwigsburg Court – details at the bottom.

We aren’t sure whether or not this information has any relevance to the disappearence of Uwe Gemballa and his alleged kidnapping. But…

We were tipped off yesterday by a guy who knows Uwe Gemballa well. He wanted to be careful not to imply anything with the information he gave us and urged us to imply nothing ourselves when we published his information. He also urged us to check out the information for ourselves. So we dug out the Cars UK credit card and did a search of recently registered German Companies. And what we found confirmed what he had told us.

In December a new Gemballa company was registered. It’s called GEMBALLA Sports Cars GmbH & Co. KG. There appears to be just one shareholder – the 79 year old mother of Uwe Gemballa,  Edith Maria Margaretha Gemballa-Jauss, who appears to have chipped in €1,000.

The last time the company records were updated was 5/2/2010. Just before Uwe Gemballa went to South Africa.

As we said, we are simply publishing this information in case it has any relevance to the situation. We’d like to believe it doesn’t.  The document is a matter of public record. And we’ve saved you a few bob in case you were wanting to look it up.

Breaking News: There is news coming in on the German DPA news wire that the main Gemballa company has applied to the German courts for an insolvency order. The news wire says:

The court in Ludwigsburg said a law firm representing Gemballa’s wife had applied for insolvency. She had a power of attorney from her husband. A provisional insolvency administrator had been appointed.

Which rather vindicates the stories we ran on Gemballa being closed by the German authorities and our assertion that cars had been impounded.

The plot thickens.

Although Uwe Gemballa is still classified as a missing person, his German Porsche tuning firm met a more finite demise. According to Autobild, the company was completely liquidated at the end of April.

Most reports indicate Gemballa was traveling to South Africa to find backers for a new African/ Middle Eastern branch, but from there, things grow fuzzy. According to the Johannesburg Times, Gemballa called his home in Germany on February 9, 2010. Speaking in English -- possibly a sign of duress and a forced conversation -- Uwe told his wife he had an accident, and needed €1 million ($1.2 million) wired to him immediately.

If this didn’t already smack of a kidnapping, others close to Gemballa throw fuel on the fire. A friend close to the family told the same paper that “a lot of big names connected to the underworld have come up during our search for Uwe.” The same source refused to comment further, saying he feared for his family’s safety.

Things become puzzling, however, once money is involved. Luxist reports Gemballa set up a “shadow company” before leaving Germany, and also transferred power of attorney to his wife. Autobild says he chose to disappear because his company was headed for liquidation, but hadn’t yet filed for insolvency. The Times Live confirms Gemballa’s wife did indeed have power of attorney for the tuning company, and was also the person who initiated the company’s bankruptcy filing shortly after Gemballa vanished.

Although this can easily be classified as an unsolved mystery at this point, we know one thing for certain: Gemballa, like its founder, also managed to disappear into thin air.

半年luuuu
Uwe Gemballa hasn't re-entered the building, but his company will apparently soon come return. The last we heard of Mr. Gemballa, he was still listed as "disappeared" in South Africa, with his mother set up as the sole stockholder in a new shadow corporation and his wife in charge of filing bankruptcy for the former concern.

On Monday, August 23 the man in charge of the remains of the Gemballa operation, managing director Andreas Schwarz, will reportedly hold a press conference to reportedly announce that the company is somehow back in business. We have no idea what that company will look like or even what it will be called, but you can bet we'll be tuning at at 11 a.m. German time to find out.

死埋.
Uwe Gemballa, the CEO of the Porsche tuning company that bears his name, has been found murdered near Pretoria, South Africa.
The tuning company, Gemballa Automobiletechnik, is known for creating Porsche performance conversions and customers have included Arab royalty and movie stars.
Gemballa was found shot in the head with his hands tied and his body wrapped in cellophane.
The German businessman had been missing since 8 February after travelling to the country for a business trip.
At the time, police said there was little evidence to suggest kidnapping. There is speculation he may have been involved in international crime.
He was reportedly facing difficulty paying Gemballa employees and his wife, who has been given power of attorney for the company, has filed bankruptcy for the tuning company.
According to German magazine Stern, the Porsche tuner had been working on a business deal with a Czech businessman Radovan Krejcir.
Local police have not commented on any of the surrounding circumstances of Gemballa's death.
Vishnu Naidoo, a South African police spokesman said: “We have found the body of Gemballa and we're now investigating the circumstances around his death. A murder docket has been opened.”
No arrests have yet been made, but two German police officers are in South Africa to assist with the investigation.

兇手拉埋, 坐廿碌.
The Uwe Gemballa saga may finally have come to a close with the swift, decisive conviction of his alleged murderer.

Just to recap, Gemballa disappeared in February of 2010 and was later found dead this past October. According to reports, Gemballa was working with Radovan Krejcir, a Czech billionaire and alleged mobster living in South Africa. Uwe needed cash for his automotive operations and Krejcir used the Gemballa cars to bring money into the country. One car arrived without its cargo and Gemballa's life was cut short, supposedly on orders from Krejcir. Now, reports say Uwe Gemballa's murderer has been caught, tried and convicted, all within the span of 24 hours.

Thabiso Mpshe, a 28-year old resident of Pretoria, was arrested on Friday, October 29, and appeared before the Johannesburg High Court that afternoon where he was sentenced to 20 years in prison. A spokesperson for the police department was unable to say if a deal has been struck between Mpshe and the prosecution. Thanks for the tip, Stefan!
