終於有機會買Aston Martin

British sportscar maker Aston Martin has shocked the world by unveiling a new city car.

Named the Cygnet, the Aston Martin-branded city car is not all new, but heavily based on the recent Toyota iQ.

As these pictures show the firm is working hard to give the iQ more of an Aston look, while inside, the Cygnet is expected to boast a luxurious new interior.

Toyota's 1.0- and 1.33-litre engines are tipped to be carried over meaning the firm more familiar for its supercars could boast a low-polluting sub 100g/km CO2 offering.

The radical departure for Aston has been explained by boss Ulrich Bez who has said: 'Now is the right time for Aston Martin to take this first bold step to embark on this special project. This concept - akin to an exclusive tender to a luxury yacht - will allow us to apply Aston Martin design language, craftsmanship and brand values to a completely new segment of the market.'

The firm is remaining tight-lipped on pricing, but rumours are Aston Martin will charge as much as £20,000 making it one of the most expensive and exclusive city car money can buy.

Aston Martin expects to make between 1,000-2,000 Cygnets a year with the city car expected to go on sale late 2010.

Don't think an Aston badge on an iQ will find any audience at all, what a waste of product  development money and the internal project leader should be shot!
